Aceler@Tech organizes 3 days of debate on the future of Tourism

Aceler@Tech in Portugal, a program organized by Acredita Portugal with the support of Turismo de Portugal, is preparing to organize a virtual debate event on the challenges and opportunities for the future of the sector. The 20 finalist projects of the program will take part in the initiative.

Lisbon – Jun 9, 2021 – After selecting and accelerating some of the world’s most innovative startups in the tourism industry in recent months, Aceler@Tech in Portugal is preparing to organize a virtual fair to show what will change in the sector and how to prepare for the future. The “Tourism Tech Summit” takes place on the 16th, 17th and 18th of June.

Aceler@Tech organizes 3 days of debate on the future of Tourism

The opening day will include the participation of the Acredita Portugal association, Turismo de Portugal and Vila Nova de Gaia City Council. The second day includes the intervention of the 20 finalist projects of the Aceler@Tech initiative, in sessions dedicated to different challenges of the sector:

  • How AI and Machine Learning will impact the global tourism?Eddy Travels, ChillwallAI, IVI – An AI powered virtual Revenue Management Assistant
  • What are the new trends in reservation services? – Insurion, Victoury, Wheel The World
  • The inevitable future of events industry – MICEtribe, Shuttle Planet, B.A.M Blockchain Ticketing – Tamper-proof and fair
  • How to provide better experiences to the travelers? – Food’n Road, Local Purse, SmartGuide, Look@ – the smart selfie sculpture
  • How will the hotels look like in the future? – Holedo, RevApp, Valpas, WeBee
  • Can VR and livestreaming substitute the real thing? –  Hop A Tour LTD, The VR Voyage, Ancient Worlds – Step into History by Lithodomos

As Fernando Fraga, Director of Innovation at Acredita Portugal, explains, “Aceler@Tech aims to attract the best tourism-related innovation to Portugal, contributing to increased competitiveness and innovation in the sector. This is an initiative with a truly global dimension, as evidenced by the three hundred applications from around the world. Most of the candidate projects are European, but countries such as Brazil, USA, India, Singapore or Pakistan are also represented.”

“The program is aimed at boosting new businesses based on innovative and challenging ideas in the Tourism sector, supporting the development of projects that contribute to economic, social and environmental sustainability and aggregating challenging technologies and methods that help companies move from traditional operating models to advanced technologies and more efficient processes,” he adds.

From virtual visits with 3D immersion to ticketing for events based on block chain technology or global experimentation through gastronomic culture, the finalist projects of this initiative – which will award more than €20,000 in financial prizes to the winning projects – promise to innovate this vital sector for the country’s economy.
